The agricultural year stared well, with a wet winter, replenishing water levels in the Douro. The weather was ideal for flowering and the months of May and June were fairly hot. The violent hailstorm registered on the 14th June caused serious damage reducing the overall crop and this situation worsened due to the very high temperatures in the summer. Some rainfall occurred during the harvest but caused no significant problems. On arrival at the winery the grapes were in very good conditions overall and perfectly ripe.
